Guard Hound

A dog reshaped by mako exposure, kept around Shinra property because it does the job of a fence that bites.

Why this is not the bestiary entry

This page is the species — the kind of animal, where it lives, what it eats, whether mako made it. [[canon/creature/guard-hound]] is the creature: one bestiary record with its level, stats, drops, and the encounters it appears in.

The split matters for the OpenMidgar project. Spawn logic and ecology want the species — "what lives in the slums" — while combat wants the creature. Folding them into one page would mean every stat block claimed to be a fact about the animal rather than about one encounter table row.

threat is low as a species judgement, not a difficulty rating; the creature's level carries that.

No relation to Mako

This page has no relations block, and the first draft's link to [[canon/concept/mako]] was removed rather than accommodated. mako_mutated: true already makes that claim, as a queryable boolean, and the closed relation vocabulary has no edge that means "was warped by" — concerns means "is about", which a dog is not.

Minting a relation type for a single edge would have been the wrong fix. When a second and third species need the same edge, that is the moment to add one to _meta/relation-types.md.
